Common Name: | Shirley Poppy |
Plant Type: | Hardy Annual |
Position: | Full Sun to Partial Sun |
Height: | 60cm |
Spread: | 30cm |
Growing Info: March-May, sow where it is to grow in a well-prepared seed bed, in full sun. The seedlings do not like root disturbance so simply thin to 20 cm apart. Will not germinate if planted in grass. Can also be sown outside in Aug-Sep for flowering the following year. Seedlings may need protection with a cloche through a hard winter. Looks great sown in drifts so the flowers can sway gently in the breeze. |

Aftercare: Cut flowers and deadhead regularly to prolong the flowering period and encourage growth. Will spread if left to self-seed. |
