This free-flowering annual is widely grown to attract wildlife and as a cut flower. The waxy glaucous leaves are flecked with white. Nodding pendulous clusters of dusky mauve and steely purple blooms appear in summer, followed by large black seeds. They can self-seed freely but not aggressively.

Growing Info:
Soak the seeds for 12-24 hours before sowing. Can be sown under cover in Feb-April and Aug-Sep for overwintering, or in-situ in April-May. If grown under cover, harden-off and plant out after frosts have passed.

Will survive mild frosts, young plants may need some protection over winter in cold areas.
