Campanula rotundifolia - Harebell Seeds

Campanula rotundifolia - Harebell Seeds

The common harebell is a European native and can be found living in grassy areas on well-drained, often chalky, soils. It's a very delicate plant best positioned alongside other, less vigorous species. It is happy in a container and would make an excellent alpine specimen. It dies down in winter yet self-seeds freely, so don't cut growth back till early spring.

Common Name: Common harebell
Plant Type: Perennial
Position: Full Sun to Partial Sun
Height: 30cm
Spread: 25cm
Growing Info:
Sow under cover February to April by lightly pressing the seeds to the surface of seed compost. Do not cover as light is required for germination. Ensure adequate ventilation once germination has occurred to prevent damping off. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to pots and grow on in cooler temperatures.
Aftercare:
Cut back after flowering to encourage another flush of flowers, and to prevent self-seeding if not desired. Apply an annual leaf mould mulch.
