Beetroot 'Boltardy' Seeds

Beetroot 'Boltardy' Seeds

An old favourite that can’t be beaten. Beetroot ‘Boltardy’ is known for its bolt-resistance even in challenging weather conditions, so can be sown earlier than most. Reliable and deliciously sweet when harvested young (golf ball size). The baby leaves are a tasty addition to summer salads.

  • Further Information
Latin Name: Beta vulgaris
Position: Full Sun
Height: 30cm
Spread: 15cm
Growing Info:
Sow directly from Mar-Jul, in shallow drills 3cm deep, 10cm apart in light, well-drained soil. Remove all visible stones. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin out until 10cm apart. Water well when soil is dry to keep roots cool. Overwatering can promote leaf growth rather than root growth.
Aftercare:
While harvesting, pick alternate plants so that surrounding beetroots have more space to develop. Harvest all beetroot before first frosts
