A British native, often found in woodland areas. The leaves can be used to flavour many dishes and sauces, including pesto. April-June, attractive, white flowers put on a dazzling display and attract many beneficial insects. Ideal in sheltered, sunny areas with well-drained soil. Best grown in a container if you want to limit its spread (it is fast-spreading).

Growing Info:
Can be sown any time of year. If sowing in-situ, plant 20mm deep and the winter cold will naturally stratify the seeds for seedlings the following spring. If sowing undercover, surface sow on moist seed compost and lightly cover with soil. Keep at 18-22°C for 2-4 weeks, before moving to area -4°C-+4°C for 4-6 weeks to cold stratify. Then move back to 5-12°C, where the seeds should germinate.
Aftercare:
Best grown in a container if you want to limit its spread. Can be lifted and divided in autumn or spring when flowering has finished.
